Sell a website or online business for what it is worth
Valuation, buyer outreach, negotiation and a clean transfer, for websites, domain portfolios and online businesses.
Most digital assets are sold badly. The owner lists it in one place, takes the first serious offer, and finds out afterwards what a prepared sale to the right buyer would have fetched. I have sold two businesses of my own, buy and build digital assets through Domain Farm, and wrote the book on the subject, How to Sell Digital Assets (2025).
Selling yours
- A valuation you can defend. What the asset is worth, and why, in writing: revenue, traffic quality, the domain, and the risks a buyer will price in.
- Getting it ready. Proof of revenue and traffic, clean ownership records, and the loose ends that make a buyer nervous, dealt with before anyone sees it.
- Finding the buyer. Private approaches to people likely to pay the most, and the open market only when it is the better route.
- Closing properly. Negotiation, escrow, and the handover of domain, hosting, code and accounts, so the deal does not fall apart at the last step.
Buying one
If you are looking to buy a website or a digital business, tell me what you want. I can point you at assets from my own portfolio when one fits, and help you check any other before you commit: whether the traffic is real, whether the revenue is, and what could go wrong after the transfer.
How a sale runs
- Valuation. What it is worth and why.
- Preparation. Records, proof and ownership in order.
- Buyers. Private approaches first, open market if that is better.
- Transfer. Escrow first, then domain, hosting and accounts handed over.
