Senior growth leadership, as your fractional CMO
Search, digital PR and content run as one growth plan, for businesses that need a senior marketer without a full-time hire.
Most growing businesses reach a point where marketing is being done, but nobody senior is deciding what it is for. An agency here, a freelancer there, a content plan that does not connect to the search plan, and reporting that measures activity rather than growth. That gap is what a fractional CMO fills.
What I take on
- The growth plan. Where growth will actually come from, and in what order: search, digital PR, content, partnerships.
- The people doing the work. Choosing, briefing and holding to account the agencies, freelancers and in-house staff, so each one is working to the same plan.
- Reporting that means something. Revenue, enquiries and visibility, not impressions and effort.
- Reputation alongside growth. How the business and its leaders appear in search and to AI, because the two are now the same job.
Why me
I built Custard into one of the North West's better-known SEO and digital PR agencies, with fifty staff and a seven-figure turnover, and sold it in 2018. I built PR Fire, which put more than ten thousand businesses in front of journalists, and sold it in 2024. I have run these disciplines at scale and hired the people who do them, so I know what good looks like and what only looks busy.
How it works
A set number of days a month, agreed in writing, with a clear scope and a review point. It works best for businesses that already have some marketing in place and need it led, rather than started from nothing.
Related
Digital consultancy for a one-off decision rather than ongoing leadership, and reputation management when the problem is what people find.
Work with me
Tell me where the business is and what growth you are after. If a fractional arrangement is the right answer I will say so, and if it is not, I will tell you what is.
